The following information is from the Coastal Conservation Association of Louisiana:
CCA Louisiana will host the world’s largest kayak tournament, Ride The Bull, on August 27-28, 2021, in Grand Isle. This incredible event is in its 11th year and will be held at Bridgeside Marina.
Ride the Bull has had over 700 anglers participate in the past and is a family-friendly event geared for anglers of all skill levels. All anglers are confined to Caminada Pass near Grand Isle with the goal of catching the heaviest bull red of the day. Once an angler lands the fish, “chase boats” pick up the fish and bring them to the scales at Bridgeside Marina. Once there, the fish is weighed, measured and tagged for the TAG Louisiana program and released back into the pass.
“Anglers from all over the country travel to this one of a kind event,” said Rad Trascher, CCA Louisiana Director of Development and Ride the Bull Tournament Director. “No matter if you are participant or just like watching the festivities from the Grand Isle Bridge or the Marina, this is an event that everyone should see!”
Registration will open online at ccalouisiana.com on June 1st with fees at $75 per adult and $65 for kids 17 and under. All early registrants will get a membership to CCA Louisiana, a high performance tournament shirt and goody bag, as well as dinner Friday night and lunch on Saturday. After August 1st the price goes up to $85 per adult.
“After being forced to take a year off due to Covid, our sponsors are ready, the town of Grand Isle is ready and I know the anglers are ready to continue the tradition of RTB,” said Trascher. “Special thanks to the sponsors like Wilderness Systems, Academy Sports + Outdoors, The Backpacker, and of course the entire Vegas Family at Bridgeside Marina for making this possible. We expect Ride the Bull 11 to be the largest tournament to date.”
