Restaurant Week 2020: Jed’s Local PoBoys

Restaurant Week is here, and we’re taking advantage of the great deals to feature some the amazing cuisine that BR has to offer. And what better way to kick that off than with PoBoys?

We checked out Jed’s Local, a PoBoy shop in midcity that delivers a NOLA-style sandwich without the commute. They even use Leidenheimer French Bread, so you know it’s the real deal. With both a cozy (but socially distanced!) interior and outdoor seating options, you can safely dine despite Covid.

For Restaurant Week, Jed’s has a $20 three-course menu, so we were able to sample their flavors on a budget.

Course 1: Cochon Fries

We kicked off our dining experience with their Cochon Fries. A bed of perfectly crisp french fries, topped with delicous slow-cooked pulled pork, cheddar cheese, and chives, and finished with a delicious creole mustard sauce. The large portion was enough for several of us to share, and could probably be a meal on it’s own. Every single fry was loaded with toppings, and they blew away our expectations.

Course 2: Shrimp and Fried Green Tomato PoBoy

What isn’t to love about this all-Louisiana mashup? Starting with a generous portion of shrimp, fried green tomatoes, rĂ©moulade sauce, and boiled eggs, this sandwich is to die for. Every bite was full of flavor, and everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection.

Course 3: Bread Pudding

We were already full at this point, but how can you say no to desert? This homemade bread pudding, complete with whiskey sauce, was a great way to finish the meal. It was hot and delicious, and the sauce packed a boozy punch.

Final Verdict: Jed’s is a must-try

Quickly becoming a midcity classic, Jed’s delivers amazing flavors that are sure to satisfy any craving. Their $20 Restaurant Week menu will be available until November 14th, but you can try the classic dishes featured here year-round.
