It’s nearly 50 years of celebrating da Boot’s favorite red fruit! The Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival kicks off its 49th year April 3-5, 2020.
The event is normally held the second weekend of April. However, this year’s festival will be a week earlier due to Easter.
The Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival is a free family-friendly outdoor festival centered around Louisiana’s strawberry season. The three-day event shows off vendor booths, amusement rides, live entertainment, a state-level beauty pageant, a 10K road race and a parade.
The parade rolls through through Downtown Ponchatoula at 9:30 am. on Saturday, April 4.

The organizers’ mission is to produce an event with an all-volunteer board and support non-profit organizations. The Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival also works to preserve the Louisiana strawberry industry and its heritage.
The event hosts over 350,000 visitors and generates nonprofit revenue for approximately 100 plus organizations, according to the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival Facebook page.
Preceding the 3-day festival are the Strawberry Festival Ball (Feb. 29) and Julian Dufreche Strawberry Day in the Park (March 14). The ball feature the fest’s royalty, row of fame inductees and live music by MoJeaux. Strawberry Day in the Park shows off a car show and wing cook-off.
