The Netflix docuseries “Tiger King” took the world by storm earlier this year. And now the upcoming scripted series based around the life of zoo owner Joe Exotic has finally found its star.
According to Variety, Nicolas Cage is set to star in and executive produce a series based on the Texas Monthly article “Joe Exotic: A Dark Journey Into the World of a Man Gone Wild,” by Leif Reigstad.
The eight-episode series will be Cage’s first venture into television after an iconic career in the film industry. He won an Academy Award for best actor for Leaving Las Vegas and is also known for his work in the National Treasure franchise as well as ’90s action movies like Con Air and Face/Off.
This will be the second scripted series based in the Tiger King universe.
The first one was announced late last year with SNL star Kate McKinnon set to play the role of Carole Baskin. The two scripted series are separate from one another.
So it seems like fans of the Tiger King have a ton of content to look forward to. And we can expect more news in the coming months as the two shows start to take shape.
What do you think? Will Nicolas Cage make a good Joe Exotic?
