New Year’s Eve in New Orleans: Here’s where to ring in 2020

New Orleans definitely knows how to bring the party when ringing in the New Year. The city offers plenty of options to countdown to midnight to party the night away.

From festive fireworks to big bashes, celebrating New Year’s Eve in New Orleans is a big celebration no matter which event you choose to ring in the New Year.

We’ve gathered some ideas for celebrating New Year’s Eve in New Orleans on Tuesday, Dec. 31.

Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve

The “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” telecast hosted by Ryan Seacrest will once again have a presence in New Orleans. Witness the fleur-de-lis drop and a spectacular fireworks show, as New Orleans closes out 2019. Multi-platinum selling artists Sheryl Crow and Usher will headline the concert, live from the Allstate Fan Fest in New Orleans. Emmy and Tony Award-winning actor Billy Porter will host the Central Time Zone celebration in New Orleans. Festivities begin at 7 p.m. Attendees of the Allstate Fan Fest can expect a mix of interactive activities, highlighted by the free New Year’s Eve performances. Fan fest is located in Jax Brewery parking lot off Decatur Street. The event is free and open to the public.


Allstate Sugar Bowl New Year’s Eve Parade

The Allstate Sugar Bowl New Year’s Eve Parade will feature floats, bands and other participants at 2:45 p.m., prior to the 2020 Allstate Sugar Bowl. Is there a more New Orleans-style way to help ring in the New Year? The parade begins at the intersection of Elysian Fields Avenue and Decatur Street. The parade wraps up at Canal Street. Check out the Allstate Fan Fest while you’re out and about.

Crescent City Countdown

Crescent City Countdown welcomes the New Year in New Orleans with the annual fleur de lis drop and Riverfront fireworks show at midnight. See the free “Symphony in the Sky” from the East Bank or West Bank of the Mississippi River.


Big Night New Orleans New Year’s Eve Gala

Big Night New Orleans at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans is one of the city’s big parties held annually on New Year’s Eve. Dance your way into the new year with acts like Choppa, Bag of Donuts, Petey Pablo, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, Flow Tribe and others. The event also features multiple, themed party areas and dance floors. Ticket prices for the entertainment-filled night vary based on package and time of purchase.

DJ Soul Sister’s 17th annual New Year’s Eve Soul Train

Ring in 2020 with the local “‘Queen of Rare Groove,” known for spinning at more than a decade of dance parties. DJ Soul Sister will host her 17th annual New Year’s Eve Soul Train at the Civic Theater. Tickets for this unforgettable night are $30 in advance, $35 at the door and $125 for the premium open bar. Age 21 and older only. Doors open at 9 p.m.

A Starry Night: New Year’s Eve Gala

New Orleans’ newest riverboat, the Riverboat Louis Armstrong, throws its first New Year’s Eve party. Big band sounds, DJ spins and an all-star cast of drag divas help guests dance to the New Year. Enjoy the fireworks display over the Mississippi River from the top deck. Creole cuisine and three premium open bars are also included. Doors open at 9:45 p.m. Tickets are $219.

Steamboat Natchez New Year’s Eve Dinner and Fireworks Cruises

Go rolling on the river to ring in the New Year. The Steamboat Natchez hosts a Dinner Jazz Cruise and New Year’s Eve Fireworks Cruise. Sail at 7 p.m. for the buffet dinner cruise or sail at 10:30 p.m. Board at the Toulouse Street Wharf.


New Year’s Eve Parties at Ace Hotel

Ace Hotel keeps the party going all night long with festivities leading up to the New Year. Pregame with DJ Shane Love at the Lobby Bar at 5 p.m. while taking your last photos before the ball drops at the Deep Fried photo booth. Soul legend Lee Fields and his band the Expressions will perform a special New Year’s Eve show starting at 9:30 p.m. with soul singer Aaron Abernathy opening the show. Tickets for the show include bottomless sparkling wine, and begin at $150 per person. Later in the evening, DJ Felice Gee & Legatron Prime will ring in the New Year with high-vibrational music rooted in tribal, funk and jazz beats.

Bar Marilou’s New Year’s Eve Party

Bar Marilou’s New Year’s Eve party will feature an open bar with passed canapes from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. The festive party features a live jazz band trio, before DJ Tristan Dufrene takes over. Throughout the evening, there will also be various interactive performances including an acrobat duo, Snake Charmer and Burlesque performer Xena Zeitgeist, a contortionist and Drag Artist MaryBoy. Reservations are limited. Tickets available for purchase at the website are $95 per person for standing room and $150 per person for seated.


Galactic New Year’s Eve at Tipitina’s

Local favorites Galactic takes over Tipitina’s on New Year’s Eve along with Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph and Southern Avenue. with their creative style and music. Ticket prices for general admission is $76, or you can pay $201 to experience the VIP treatment. VIP tickets include an open bar, a champagne toast, access to a VIP viewing section, food by Jacques-Imo’s and more. Doors open at 9 p.m.


New Year’s Eve with Rebirth Brass Band at the Howlin’ Wolf

Head down to the Howlin’ Wolf this New Year’s Eve, and experience a night of New Orleans’ funk and brass when the Grammy-winning Rebirth Brass Band takes the stage. Tickets are $85, which include access to a premium open bar all night. Doors open at 10 p.m.

Roaring Back to the 20’s: New Year’s Eve at Southern Hotel

If you’re on the Northshore, the Southern Hotel in downtown Covington hosts a Roaring 20s-themed New Year’s Eve party. The Jimmy Maxwell Orchestra provides live entertainment, and there’s a midnight “pine cone drop.” End your night with a champagne toast. Tickets for the event includes an open bar and light bites. NYE 2020 – Pavilion of Tomorrow

FOX Sports’ Jen Hale, Bravo’s Southern Charm’s Reagan Charleston and others host a New Year’s Eve event at Pavilion of Tomorrow in the Warehouse District. Tickets are $200, all-inclusive for open bar and food.  The event benefits Sideline Pass, and organizers say a scholarship will be named in honor of the late Nancy Parker.


Riverview Room ‘Times Square of the South’

The Riverview Room hosts a “Times Square of the South” celebration at its elegant venue. Dance to music by the Top Cats while enjoying an open bar and buffet-style dinner. The Riverfront venue also offers a great view of the midnight firework show. Tickets are $185 all inclusive.


The Revolution and Buktu: Second Annual All Black Affair

Central City event venues the Revolution & Buktu NOLA team up for a New Year Eve’s party. Four DJs will play the hits from 2019, as party-goers get ready to ring in the New Year.
