Female brewers from across Louisiana will gather at Gnarly Barley Brewing to create a craft brew in honor of International Women’s Day, which is March 8.
The all-female brew team will be made up of about 15 women from different Louisiana brewing companies, including Gnarly Barley, Urban South, Great Raft, Port Orleans, Zony Mash, Parish Brewing and Brieux Carre’. All ladies are part of the Pink Boots Society, Louisiana-Mississippi Chapter — an organization of women in the national brewing industry.
The Pink Boots Society holds annual conferences and chapter meetings across the country. Members work to highlight that it’s not all beards and beer-bellies in the craft brewing industry. Women often play significant roles in bringing craft beer from the tanks to the table.
This special brewing team from the Louisiana-Mississippi Chapter will get hopped up on Friday, March 6, just two days before International Women’s Day. The ladies will meet at the Hammond brewery to create a limited-release beer called Pink Guava Double IPA.
And, as the name boasts, this pint will pack a fruity punch. Included in this Pink Boots-inspired double IPA is over 500 pounds of pink guava. Nikki Williams of Gnarly Barley says the beer will come in at 8% alcohol by volume (ABV).
Pink Guava Double IPA will be released to the public at Gnarly Barley Brewing only on Friday, April 3. The beer will be available for purchase in four-packs of 16 ounce cans and on draft.
