‘Tis the season to enjoy over 100,000 lights, five tons of real snow, visits with Santa and more! Baton Rouge General Hospital (BRG) goes big this year with their Holiday Lights display.

The hospital invites families to visit a light show and festive events on BRG’s campus at the corner of Bluebonnet Boulevard and Picardy Avenue. From Nov. 23 through Dec. 31, the front lawn will be transformed into a winter wonderland.

“Everything you enjoyed about last year’s display is back, plus we’ve added new elements to make it bigger and brighter,” said BRG CEO Edgardo Tenreiro. “Whether you’re driving by or strolling through, Holiday Lights is our way of spreading a little holiday cheer to the community. And the free family night events give families a safe, convenient spot to celebrate the season.”

There is no cost of admission for Holiday Lights, but a suggested donation of $5 is welcome. Parking is available on-site. For more details, visit and follow @brglights on Facebook and Instagram.

What to see:

This holiday display is almost like the North Pole set up shop in southeast Louisiana!

So, here’s what to expect during your visit:

  • 40-foot mega tree and two 25-foot trees synchronized to music
  • Eight singing trees
  • Light displays with candy canes, snowmen and gingerbread people, plus more than 112,000 lights.
  • NEW – 12-foot lighted walk-through present
  • 12-foot lighted walk-through Christmas ornament
  • 9-foot Cajun alligator light display
  • Pathway leading to the large trees near Bluebonnet

When to see it:

This year, there are three different occasions to see the spectacular lights.

  • Regular Nightly Viewings: Nov. 23 – Dec. 31, sundown to sunrise
All are welcome to experience the light display every night of the week. When the sun goes down, the twinkling lights switch on. These nightly viewings are free and open to the community.
  • Family Nights: Dec. 5 & Dec. 19, 6:00-8:00 pm
Visitors of all ages are always welcome to the holiday light show. But, these two special evenings are specifically designed to welcome families and children. Be on your best behavior, though! Santa Claus will be there to greet you. Of course, enjoy the twinkling, singing and musically synchronized lights display for free during your visit. Also, experience five tons of real snow, photos with Santa, live music and local food trucks with food for purchase.
  • Bubbly & Bright: Dec. 12, 6:30-9:00 pm
This event is all about being bubbly. And by bubbly, we mean champagne. This event is open exclusively to ages 21 and up for bottomless champagne cocktails, festive small bites and live music. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. For more details or to buy tickets, visit

So, get into the holiday spirit and help spread cheer throughout the community. Bring your family and friends to enjoy a free night at Holiday Nights.
