If you’re a Star Wars fan, but you aren’t much of a football watcher, then you might want to find your sports channels just for tonight. During ESPN’s Monday Night Football game between the New England Patriots and New York Jets, the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker final trailer will air during halftime on Oct. 21.
Movie tickets go on sale immediately after Disney drops the trailer, according to Deadline. The game kicks off at 8:15 pm ET (7:15 pm CT).
The finale of the 9-title franchise opens on Dec. 20.
Now, it might seem a bit overzealous to get online at the exact right time tonight to buy movie tickets. But, according to Deadline, Star Wars: Force Awakens ticket sales back in 2015 caused advance ticket sales sites to crash. A similar situation happened in April with the record first day presales for Avengers: Endgame. This record was shared by Fandango and Atom Tickets.
So, if you aren’t watching Monday Night Football or watching the clock, you might be out of luck trying to secure your presale tickets.
Some don’t anticipate The Rise of Skywalker presale tickets to beat out those of Endgame. However, they expect tickets to sell quickly enough to set another record.
As written on Deadline, three out of five from Fandango’s top ticket first day presellers are Star Wars franchise films. They are Force Awakens, The Last Jedi and Rogue One. The other two movies rounding out Fandango’s top presellers come from the Avengers category: Endgame and Infinity War.
So, movie goers and Star Wars fans, get ready for Monday Night Football! And may the force be with you during your movie ticket journey.
