In Partnership with the Southern Weekend

Drive-in movie theater opens at John Schneider Studios in Holden

Grab your popcorn, and watch movies under the stars at John Schneider Studios

You know the saying, “everything old is new again?” Well, John Schneider Studios is using that phrase to bring an old experience to south Louisiana.

“I Remember drive-in theaters when I was a kid, so the fact that we have a drive-in movie theater here at John Schneider Studios means the world to me,” said John Schneider.

The concept was formed after many indoor businesses, including movie theaters, shut down due to the pandemic.

“As 2020 kept going on, people who remember drive-in movies said ‘hey, why don’t we give a rebirth to the whole notion of drive-in movie theaters,” said Schneider.

“We kind of thought, well, you’ve got a baseball field at the studio you don’t use. Put a screen in center field and open your own drive-in.”

And that’s exactly what they did. Guests can watch film favorites and Schneider Studio originals from a forty foot blowup movie screen every Friday and Saturday.

“The movies we show here are movies that we make, and we are part of an organization where we can rent movies to show like Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, we are going to show Friday the 13th.”

The drive-in will also sell popcorn, other snacks and merchandise.

“There’s a wonderful sense of history and community on this property, and we want to do everything we can to not only keep that going but to enhance it,” said Schneider.

The Stars N’ Cars drive-in event will host back-to-back movies on the weekends. A single feature is $20 per car or you can catch a double feature for $30.
