Experience the holiday magic at the Downtown Festival of Lights, Dec. 6

It’s Baton Rouge’s Oldest Holiday Tradition!

The Downtown Festival of Lights takes over Downtown Baton Rouge on Friday, Dec. 6. Get caught up in the festivities from 4:00 p.m to 9:00 p.m. 

Experience the magic of the holidays with the lighting of the 35-foot Christmas tree and fireworks at North Boulevard Town Square. Enjoy free ice skating, play in ten tons of real snow at the Snow Village, see holiday performers, face painters, elf jugglers, and, of course… SANTA!

Check the list of events at the Snow Village, Santa’s Gift Shop, and open houses. Also, stop by the Manship Theatre at Shaw Center for the Arts,LASM (Louisiana Arts & Sciencs Museum), Louisiana’s Old State Capitol,and Old Governor’s Mansion! Each of these stops in Downtown are hosting their own festive activities during the free event.

And, for more holiday fun on North Boulevard, check out these adorable pit stops: East Baton Rouge Parish Library Book Mobile, Bayou Cirque, Louisiana Youth Orchestra Bake Sale and a hot chocolate bar with St. James Episcopal. 

Luckily, event entry is free.

Find parking in the River Center Parking Garages for $5. Additional parking is available in Third Street Garage, located at 201 Third Street. Park there for $2 per hour or for $10 all-day flat rate.

You can thank the Downtown Development District, The City of Baton Rouge and the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge for bringing all of this together. 

While there is much to celebrate when it comes to the holidays, Downtown Baton Rouge has a few extra events to celebrate this season.

Also happening on Friday, Dec. 6, before and during the Festival of Lights, the Downtown Development District will unveil three new and improved additions to the area. 

See the completed second phase of the North Boulevard Town Square, play in the improved park at the Rivefront Plaza and see the unveiling of a new nearly $400,000 sculpture.
