hold a starfish or pet a stingray at Baton Rouge's newest exhibit, Blue Zoo
The Mall of Louisiana’s newest store, Blue Zoo aquarium is opening on April 1, 2021
The 16,000 square-foot space will feature animals from across the world. On the aquatic side, there are tons of displays including a hands-on starfish and stingray exhibit.
“I’m always a fan of the stingrays,” said Blue Zoo founder and CEO, Wes Haws. “I love them. They are like puppy dogs and love to be pet and interacted with.”

The aquarium will also feature a huge shark tank where guests can watch live feedings.
The zoo portion of the exhibit will have turtles, lizards and an interactive bird room. Tokens will be available, so you can personally feed some, but not all, of your favorite animals.
Other interactive opportunities include water cycle and STEM play tables, pirate shows, mermaid meet-and-greets and an epic birthday party room.

“The goal is to share my passion with others and get kids to interact with the animals and learn from them, and some day those will be the people who change our planet,” said Haws.
Blue Zoo is expected to open doors on Thursday, April 1. Visitors can purchase single day passes or season passes, good for the entire year. To learn more about Blue Zoo, click here.
