BIGFISH: Delacroix is a consistent hot spot in the tricky month of December

December can be a tricky month for anglers. But this December, Delacroix’s reputation as a cold-weather hot spot is holding up well.

December can be a tricky month for anglers. Wide temperature swings move fish and finding them a challenge.

Delacroix’s reputation as a great winter fishing hot spot is largely due to the many deep holes and shallow flats adjacent to each other as well as many shell lined bays.

As temperatures drop Speckled Trout will move deeper. As temperatures warm those fish move to shallow flats, especially ones with shell reefs.

This December, Delacroix’s reputation as a cold-weather hot spot is holding up well. Nice speckled trout mixed with good catches of Redfish make Delacroix a great place for anglers looking to catch.

Capt. Jack Payne and the Sweetwater marina are two great sources for fishing the area. The marina offers lodging, launches, supplies, ice, and gas.
