The Baton Rouge Blues Festival took to Facebook to announce just a few performers for the 2020 event. Kenny Neal, Eric Gales, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram and Sonny Landreth will perform for the festival set to happen in downtown on Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19. The full musical lineup will be announced in a special video preview on March 3 at The Basin Music Hall.
The March 3 event will also unveil the 2020 poster and pin designs. This party is open to the public from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A $10 donation will be accepted at the door. Patrons may expect appetizers and drink specials at the special preview event. Also, there will be an opportunity to pick up a commemorative 2020 Blues Festival pin.
Organizers posted to the Baton Rouge Blues Festival that Kenny Neal is “is one of the strongest modern proponents of Baton Rouge swamp blues.” They also noted a few of his accolades, such as two 2017 Blues Music Awards and a nomination for 2017 Grammy for Best Contemporary Blues Album.

And performer Eric Gales was a child prodigy who released his debut album at age sixteen in 1991. They called Gales “the guitarists’ favorite guitarist.” According to the Facebook post, some of his fans include Carlos Santana, Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction, Red Hot Chili Peppers), Mark Tremonti (Alter Bridge), Joe Bonamassa, Tony Rombola (Godsmack) and Tosin Abasi (Animals as Leaders).
