The Africentric Focus group of Baton Rouge hosts its 30th annual Kwanzaa Celebration on Saturday, Dec. 28. This year, the group presents Dr. Runoko Rashidi as the event’s guest speaker.
Africentric Focus is a non-profit organization committed to continuing efforts that promote the upliftment of the community.
Kwanzaa is a celebration of family, community and culture. Members of the community celebrate the 7-day long holiday starting on Dec. 26.
On Kwanzaa’s third day, Dec. 28, the Africentric Focus group brings Baton Rouge together for its 2019 celebration. This day focuses on the principle Ujima or Collective Work and Responsibility. The event will be held at Southern University in the T.T Allain Building at 5:00 p.m. Find the festivities in Global Conference Room 313.
Entry into the event is free. And, if you want to do a little shopping, visit the many vendors. They will feature African heritage clothing, jewelry, art and books.
