A Gumbo of Fun at the State Fair of Louisiana

There's plenty to eat at the state fair. Including bugs.

In 1906, the State Fair of Louisiana opened its doors to celebrate the best the bayou state had to offer. Now, 113 years later, fans from across the country venture to the fairgrounds in Shreveport for midway rides and games, good food, incredible entertainment, and fun everyone can enjoy.

One of the great experiences you can have is trying some new cuisine. In addition to the Cattleman’s Association cooking up some great steak dinners, you can find turkey legs, ice cream, nachos, burgers and wash it down with a variety of drinks. Feeling adventurous? Try the fried Oreos. Really up for a challenge? Have a slice of pizza… with worms and a scorpion on it.

What’s a State Fair of Louisiana without music? Pretty boring. Here are some of the concerts for the 2019 fair

  • KANDU – Thursday, Oct. 24
  • Casey Martin Band – Friday, Oct. 25
  • Sam Williams – Saturday, Oct. 26
  • Gospel Mega Fest – Sunday, Oct. 27
  • Southern Roots – Friday, Nov. 1
  • DJ Love – Saturday, Nov. 2
  • Los Tigrillos – Sunday, Nov. 3 (Fiesta at the Fair Day)
  • Spectra Vamp – Friday, Nov. 8
  • The Bigg Robb Show – Saturday, Nov. 9
  • Bayou Boogie – Sunday, Nov. 10

You can find all of the musical groups coming to the fair here.
