8 Christmas Parades You Don’t Want to Miss in the Baton Rouge area

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Santa’s busy this season, and he’s making appearances in Christmas parades all over the Baton Rouge area. Here are six parades you don’t want to miss!

South Baton Rouge Christmas Parade – Baton Rouge, LA
Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 10:00 am

Councilwoman Tara Wicker invites you to see a holiday festive parade roll in South Baton Rouge. This year, they are calling the parade “A Christmas Tradition,” and the theme’s colors are green, gold and white. So, come dressed to enjoy the festivities and match the occasion, or fill out a form and ride in the parade. For more information on the parade, call (225)389-8720. 

Parade Route: Parade starts at the rear of McKinley High School, travels down Thomas Delpit Drive to Terrace Street. Turns right on Terrace Street, travels down Terrace to Eddie Robinson Sr. Drive. Turns right on Eddie Robinson Sr. Drive – travels down Eddie Robinson Sr. Drive to Washington Street. Turn right on Washington Street to Tennessee Street. Turns left on Tennessee Street and travel back to McKinley High for disbursement.

The City of Baker’s Annual Christmas Parade – Baker, LA
Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 10:00 am

Celebrate the holiday season with Baker’s annual Christmas Parade. This year’s grand marshal is Chief Cark K. Dunn. It all starts rolling at 10:00 a.m., so get out there in the morning to claim a great parading spot. 

Parade Route: The parade starts at Baker High School on Groom Road and ends at Baker City Hall at 3325 Groom Road.

33rd Annual ‘Christmas in Central’ Parade – Central, LA
Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 11:00 am

After running for 32 years, this parade is doing something right. The city of Central wants you to come celebrate the season with them. If you’d like to learn more about the parade or participate in this year’s events, read more here.

Parade Route: Begins on Joor and Hooper Rd continuing on to Joor and ends on Lovett Rd.

Zachary Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade – Zachary, LA
Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

This year’s annual parade kicks off in the historic downtown Zachary celebrating with the theme “It’s a Wonderful Life.” Festive parade fun includes awarding prizes to participates with the best floats, best marching and best overall theme.

Parade Route: Begins on Church St. in front of Rouse’s and rides to Walgreens on Main St. 

Broadmoor’s 6th Annual Christmas Parade – Baton Rouge, LA
Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 2:00 – 5:00 pm

Broadmoor Resident’s Association hosts this annual Christmas parade. Attendees can expect to catch holiday-themed throws and see the jolly bearded man, Santa Claus. The holiday seasons is an important time to give back to the community. That’s why the parade will collect food donations, too. To help spread the Christmas cheer, bring food donations and canned goods to help those less fortunate. If you want to participate in this year’s parade, read more here

Parade route: begins at Broadmoor High School, going east to Woodhaven, turning north on Woodhaven to reach South River Oaks Drive, then turning west to Cora Drive, going south to Goodwood Boulevard, then returning to the High School. The parade route is about 1.9 miles in length.

Annual JFA Christmas Parade – Gonzales, LA
Sunday, December 8, 2019 at 1:00 – 4:00 pm 

Join the city of Gonzales in celebrating the holidays, and enjoy floats featuring school clubs, businesses, marching groups, and scouts.

Parade Route: Begins on Irma Blvd making a left on Cornerview Rd then taking a left on Burnside Ave ending on East Bank Shopping Center.

“Christmas on the Bayou!’ Annual Denham Springs Christmas Parade – Denham Springs, LA
Saturday December 14, 2019 at 2:00 pm 

The Livingston Parish community invites everyone to come out and celebrate the holidays with them. Thanks to the Kiwanis Club of Denham Springs, many can gather to enjoy Christmas on the Bayou!

Parade Route: Begins at Healing Place Church on Florida Blvd going east then traveling right on Range Ave ending at Veterans Blvd.

(NOTE: An alternate date is scheduled in case the parade cannot roll out on Dec 14 due to circumstances. Alternate date – 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 15, 2019.)

The 2019 Cortana Kiwanis Christmas Parade – Downtown Baton Rouge, LA
Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 5:30 pm

This downtown celebration has been a Christmas tradition in Baton Rouge since 1949. It’s the largest and longest running parade in Baton Rouge with acts that includes non-profit organizations, marching bands and dance teams. The battle of the bands begins at 4:00 pm and the floats roll out at 5:30 pm. If you’d like to learn how to participate in this year’s event, see more here. The parade typically sees about 80 entries!

Parade Route: Begins on River Rd turning right on Convention St then left on Fourth St making a right on Laurel St and a left on Sixth St making another left on North St ending with a right on Lafayette St. MAP
