BATON ROUGE, La. (THE LOUISIANA WEEKEND) - Children’s Day has been celebrated on the second Sunday in June since 1857. It is a day to celebrate and honor children whether in your family or community. Louisiana has many festivals. This Saturday, June 10, 2023 is a festival centered around children. Kid Fest 2023 is from 9:00am until 1:00pm at Scotlandville Parkway, 3200 Harding Boulevard in Baton Rouge. This festival begins with a Trail walk, a 1K walk, and a 2K run to bring awareness to childhood obesity. Registration for the Walk begins at 8:30am.
A unique aspect of this festival is the young entreprenuers called “KIDprenuers”. Many of the vendors will be kids who own actual businesses. Kid owned businesses will include, Posh Pop Gourmet Popcorn, Leroy’s Lemonade, and more. Additional activities for Kid Fest 2023 include kickball, inflatables, health screenings, fire safety, bookmobile, games, face painting, and general fun. Church choirs will provide live entertainment. There will also be a talent show. Of course, attendees can expect lots of food. Free food includes hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, jambalaya, snowballs, watermelon and sodas. Food vendors will be on site with additional food items for sale. This is a family friendly event.
