Attend The 56th Jambalaya Festival This Memorial Day Weekend

BATON ROUGE, La. (THE LOUISIANA WEEKEND) - The 56th Annual Jambalaya Festival is this weekend, May 26-28, 2023 in Gonzales, Louisiana, the Jambalaya capital of the world.  The festival includes a cooking competition, car show, 5K race, carnival rides, live musical performances and more.  This is a festival to add to your list. The organizers, the Jambalaya Festival Association hold the world record for the largest jambalaya cook. In fact, the Jambalaya Festival Association is in the Guinness Books of World records for largest jambalaya cook over a wood flame. They have held the title since 2012.

The highlight of the Jambalaya Festival is the world cookoff competition, where a new jambalaya cooking champion will be crowned. There are eighty-seven cooks vying for the coveted title this year.  What makes this competition unique is that jambalaya is cooked over a wood fire in cast iron pots.  We spoke with Miss Gonzales Jambalaya 2022 Ava Savoy.  We also spoke with Wally Taillon, President of the Jambalaya Festival Association about this year’s festival.  For more information, visit HERE
