Original Christmas play coming to Jefferson United Methodist

JUMC In Search of Christmas

BATON ROUGE, La. (THE LOUISIANA WEEKEND) -Jefferson United Methodist Church presents an original Christmas play, “In Search of Christmas” at 6 pm on Sunday, December 19, 2021, in the sanctuary of the church.

A young boy struggles to find the real meaning of Christmas and questions a number of people in his search. He encounters children, teens, aunts, grandmothers, neighbors, and even some of Santa’s elves. Does he find it?

The play features a cast of 40, plus the Chancel Choir of Jefferson United Methodist Church. The writer and director, Carolyn Rice, said “I originally wrote this play for our family many years ago, and we performed it my parents’ house. Of course, it was on a much smaller scale. We felt like with COVID over the last couple of years that this was the perfect time to transform it into a full-blown production.”

Tickets are $7.00 for adults; $4.00 for children 12 – 18; and kids under 12 are free. (Walk-up tickets will be $1 more if there are any left the night of the performance.)

Tickets can be purchased at the church Monday thru Thursday, 9am-1pm, or Sunday mornings after the 8:30 and 10:30 worship service.

Jefferson United Methodist Church is located at 10328 Jefferson Highway, between Bluebonnet and Airline.
