Juneteenth, a holiday held each year on June 19, is a celebration commemorating the end of slavery on June 19, 1865. People across the country come together to celebrate this monumental day in history.

LSU African American Cultural Center Juneteenth Celebration
Thursday, June 17 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

LSU NAACP Juneteenth Block Party
Saturday, June 19 from Noon – 4 p.m.
The LSU NAACP is hosting a Juneteenth celebration on LSU’s campus. The event will offer games, raffles, BBQ sandwiches, hot dogs and more. For more information, click here.
Juneteenth Citywide Caravan
Saturday, June 19 from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
The Baton Rouge African American Museum is hosting its second annual Juneteenth Caravan with community partners. The citywide caravan will line-up at Memorial Stadium at 9:30 a.m, and the caravan will roll out at 10:30 a.m, ending at 4200 Gus Young. A $25 registration fee is required and organizers ask that you decorate your vehicle to celebrate the Juneteenth event. For more information, click here .

Juneteenth Celebration featuring Kenny Neal & family
Saturday, June 19 from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.
After the citywide caravan, join state representative C. Denise Marcelle and many community sponsors at Gus Young Park to celebrate Juneteenth. The celebration will include free crawfish, music performed by singer-guitarist Kenny Neal and COVID-19 vaccinations. Guests who receive a vaccination will be entered into a drawing to win $1000 and a 75-inch TV. For more information on the event, click here.
Juneteenth Festival
Saturday, June 19 at 5 p.m.
Dominant Rolla TV and Greg Dukes TV are introducing its first-ever Juneteenth Festival. The event will feature live music, vendors and food. For more information, click here.
AMC Black Picture Showcase
Thursday, June 18 – Friday, June 24
AMC Theatres is introducing its first-ever “AMC Black Picture Showcase Celebrating Juneteenth.” The week long event is featuring multiple Black-led movies to celebrate Juneteenth. AMC Baton Rouge 16 and AMC Mall of Louisiana 15 are both participating in the event. To view the movie lineup, click here.
