Organizers say the purpose of the event is to challenge fathers and their children to put down the electronics and enjoy a day of fishing.

Some rods and reels will be available for those who not have one. Officers with The Baton Rouge City Constable and Baton Rouge Police Department will also be at the event to help with fishing lessons and step in for those children who need help.

Organizers will also teach children about various species of fish and will host a casting line competition.
