The holiday season is finally here! Although this season looks very different than previous years, there’s still so much to do. Here at Louisiana Weekend, we rounded up a list of Santa sightings, holiday lights and other festive events happening around the Baton Rouge area.
* Holiday Lights
Now – Dec. 30, 2020
BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo is back with its annual ZooLights. ZooLights will feature a mile-long trail of over 50 twinkling displays including traditional and animal-themed sculptures.
Now – Dec. 31, 2020
Over 100,000 lights are shinning bright at Baton Rouge General this holiday season. This free event will run each night from 5:30 p.m. – 10 p.m., until Dec. 31. Free parking is also available on-site.
Now – 2021
The Downtown Festival of Lights hosted its annual event on Dec. 4, but the holiday lights are shinning into 2021. Head over to the North Boulevard Town Square where you can view the 35-foot Christmas Tree and other holiday decorations. Guests can even snap a socially distanced photo with the Christmas Tree.
* Santa Sightings
Now – Dec. 24, 2020
Santa Clause is making appearances at Bass Pro and Cabela’s this holiday season. From now through Dec. 24, bring your family to the re-imagined free Santa’s Wonderland experience. Santa will appear behind a glare-free clear protective barrier to allow for pictures with families.
Santa is making a special appearance at Perkins Rowe this holiday season. Guests can take a professional photo with Santa and share their holiday wishes. Each visit will have a contactless barrier between Santa and families. Reservations are strongly encouraged.
The Mall of Louisiana is hosting Santa this holiday season. Guests can take a professional photo with Santa himself. Reservations are required to secure a spot. To reserve your spot, click here.
* Other Holiday Events
Now – Dec. 29, 2020
The Station Sports Bar and Grill has turned into a full-on winter wonderland this holiday season. Now – Dec. 29, guests can visit Miracle on Bennington at The Station. Now – Jan. 3, 2021
Ice Skating on the River is back at the Raising Cane’s River Center for its 30th Anniversary. For $12-$14 per person, you can have a 75-minute ice skating session. The last day to take part in Ice Skating on the River is Jan. 3, 2021.
Dec. 21, 2020
On Dec. 21, a winter solstice will occur and the two largest planets, Jupiter and Saturn, will appear at their closets. The lineup of the two largest planets will create the “Christmas Star” or “Star of Bethlehem” due to its brightness and proximity to Dec. 25.
