With high temperatures already blazing here in Louisiana, many people are looking for ways to beat the heat while still enjoying the outdoors.
Tubing is a cool and cheap way to take on a hot summer afternoon with scenic views.

Bogue Chitto Tubing Center
Enjoy two or four-hour floating trips down the scenic Bogue Chitto River in Washington Parish. You can extend your trip for more leisure time by stopping to enjoy the beaches along the way. The family-run tubing center in Bogalusa, La. says its the oldest tubing business in Washington Parish. Bogue Chitto Tubing offers the newer “blue tubes,” which features a headrest, cup holder and inner safety chambers. Tubes are $20 per person, and ice chest tubes are $5. If you plan to tube Monday through Friday, they’ll let you use a an ice chest tube for free. Cash is the preferred form of payment, but credit and debit cards are accepted with an additional $3 charge per person. Life jackets are available at no extra cost. Opens daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Louisiana River Adventures
Formerly known as Wayne’s World Tubing (such an awesome name), Louisiana River Adventures offers two-hour and four-hour floats on the Bogue Chitto River. Guests who want to take advantage of a full four-hour float must be present and on the shuttle no later than 2 p.m. Two-hour floats are guaranteed if tubers arrive by 4 p.m. Both courses are the same price, $20 per tube. Cash is king at Louisiana River Adventures, but they will accept all major credit cards with a $3 transaction fee for all purchases. Opens daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Rocky Bottom Tubing
Another location in Franklinton, La. also has an access point to float down the river. Rocky Bottom Tubing is located inside Bogue Chitto State Park. Tubing trips last around three hours, and trips start at 9 a.m., with the last trip at 3 p.m. Tubing costs are $15 per adults, $12 for children ages 12 and under. Cooler tubes are $5. If you call ahead (985-515-1477), you’ll have a shorter wait time. They’ll be ready for you when you arrive. Opens daily.
If you want to test out a float down the Amite River, Tiki Tubing offers four-hour trips at their location in Livingston Parish. Tubes cost $25 each, plus tax, for any style, including a fancier lounge tube. The price of your tube rental also includes parking and transportation upriver. Tubers can also book trips online in advance. Open Fridays through Sundays from 8 a.m., with the last trip at 3 p.m.
