BIGFISH: Where to catch fish in windy conditions

While we are not experiencing anything like the East Coast right now when it comes to winds, conditions are still a little breezy in coastal Louisiana.

Windy conditions can sometimes mean going home empty-handed. Well, Captain CT Williams has a fishing spot where you won’t leave disappointed no matter what the weather is like.

Where are the fish biting when the winds blowing?

While we are not experiencing anything like the East Coast right now when it comes to winds, conditions are still a little breezy in coastal Louisiana.

So what if you could find a spot that was close to the road, in between two marinas, right by the Rigolets, and had a few fish.

Lake St. Catherine sits south of the Island Marina in New Orleans and the Rigolets Marina in Slidell.

Why are the fish biting?

Right now, that means easy access and protected waters from either side of the lake. Despite high water and windy conditions Allen Stein, Mitch Rogers, and I made a quick trip with surprising results.

We caught a speckled trout and a redfish on our first two casts. Even though the windy conditions and dirty, high water were adversarial, we managed to put more than a few fish into the boat.

So even if conditions are a little adverse, do not let that you stop you from doing some fishing.

Lake St. Catherine is close to two marinas and has decent fishing in high waters. You’re bound to catch a box full of fish.

That’s this week’s BIGFISH report, I’m Captain CT Williams for WAFB 9News.
