BIGFISH: Dad will catch plenty of redfish this Father’s Day

Captain CT Williams explains where easy fishing is waiting for Dad this weekend.

While speckled trout are being caught this summer, Redfish seem to be showing up in much larger numbers than usual.

That means a box of fish can be caught more easily and often with shorter rides from the dock.

Where are the fish biting?

Easy fishing is waiting for you this weekend close to Shell Beach.

Redfish are thick around coastal shorelines, especially around Lake Borgne’s rocks.

What will I catch?

From 16 inches to 6 pounds the redfish are thick in Lake Borgne and not far from Shell Beach.

Capt. Jacques Labroureur and Campo’s Marina owner Robbie Campo and I made a short trip for a quick limit of reds.

Labroureur, a Jakamo South Guide Service, says the area’s fishing is doing very well.

“The fishing has been good, I mean the redfish fishing has been good. The trout fishing has been feast or famine a little bit but we’ve been putting together good boxes every day,” Labroureur said.
