All aboard Papa Noel’s Holiday Train this year! The Crescent City Christmas experience rolls into New Orleans on Dec. 14 and Dec. 15.
During the last two holiday seasons, the Louisiana Steam Train Association hosted Santa’s North Pole Steam Train, pulled by Southern Pacific steam locomotive #745. Now, the nearly 100 year old New Orleans built steam engine is being rebuilt.
This year, to help raise funds for the new build, the Louisiana Steam Train Association presents Papa Noel’s Holiday Train. It’s a new ride but the same ol’ tradition that you and your family just can’t get enough of!
The train will depart on the railroad tracks at Audubon Park’s Riverview (The Fly) on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 14 and Dec. 15 aboard a special diesel powered holiday train courtesy of the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad. The train will depart approximately at 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. both days, so don’t miss out on this New Orleans Christmas celebration.
Families can expect a magical experience with Christmas caroling, music, storytelling and some special surprises! Children must be accompanied by an adult. Kids under 2 years-old are allowed to ride for free on an adult’s lap.
Seats are limited so organizers highly encourage early booking. Ticket prices start at $65 in one of the Public Belt’s two beautiful parlor cars, “The City of New Orleans” or “Louisiana.”
Premium seating is also available in either of two special observation lounge cars, “The Royal Street” or “The Bonnie Brook.” Seats in the lounge portion of each car cost $80 or you can book a private suite that comfortably seats 5 for $500.
Proceeds from Papa Noel’s Holiday Train support the rebuild of a true New Orleans historical railroad gem, SP 745. Organizer say no refunds are allowed for ticket sales.
