2019 Baton Rouge Oyster Festival: Detailed Schedule

Sweet mother of pearl– the 2nd annual Baton Rouge Oyster Festival is this weekend! Here are all the details you need to know to enjoy the free seafood event on Saturday, May 18.

The party starts at 10:30 am

The festival kicks off at 10:30 am with the Bloody Revolution Pre-Party at Jolie Pearl Oyster Bar. The “Gourmet Bloody Mary Mixer Brand” will be serving up crafted Bloody Mary’s to ready you for the day. 

Food vendors open at 12 pm 

All food vendors and bars will open at noon. The Aetna Kid’s Zone on the Old State Capitol lawn will also open at this time until 6:00 pm.

On the festival grounds, there will be an Aetna Obstacle Course along with Gymfit’s Ninja Warrior obstacles, parkour obstacles and a Circus Arts interactive area with juggling and acrobatics.

Live music from 2:30-10:30 pm 

Live music plays from 2:30 pm to shut down. The music lineup is subject to change. Here are when the jams play: 

2:30-3:30 – J and the Causeways

3:45-4:30 – Adam Dale

5:15-6:30 – Meriwether

7:00-8:15 – the Soul Rebels Brass Band

9:00-10:30 – Toad the Wet Sprocket

“Under the Shell” 

“Under the Shell” is a series of guest speakers talking about the oyster industry. Here’s what to expect from the chats inside the House Chambers of the Old State Capitol:

2:15-2:45 – Andrew Reilley – Meriwether & Adam Dale with “This van smells weird.”

This is a poignant conversation about the past present and future of local music scene, pickles and everything in between. 

3:30-4:00 – Heather David – Louisiana Wildlife & Fisheries

4:15-4:45 – Deb Abibou, Restoration Program Director of CRCL (located on 2nd Floor Rotunda)

4:45-5:00 – Duke Landry – Oyster Shucking Champion

The after party

If you aren’t ready to quit the party, stop by the BXS Insurance After Party at Happy’s Irish Pub on 3rd Street with live music by the Anteeks.

It’s going to be a long fun day of fried, chargrilled, rockefeller, bienville and raw oysters.
